Squirrel Proof Birdfeeder
1) The problem identified in the video is that squirrels have broken into any squirrel-proof bird feeder the man had put up. He had tried 4 different bird feeders which had all been broken into. For this reason, the man decided to test the squirrel’s limitations by setting up an obstacle course that the birds could easily land on, but the squirrels would have to work for. However, after testing his experiment, the man realized that the squirrels were far more capable at getting across than the man anticipated. 1) This video highlights the challenge of adding specificity to a piece of writing. Skipping out on words and giving generalized descriptions when writing is something we may do naturally since we’re used to speaking casually in our own language. When speaking casually, we don’t take the time to state each individual action. This is done for efficiency and because others also that are also fluent are able to fill in the gaps and understand what one means. Our brains automatically use context clues and find filler words when listening, so specificity is not needed.
